Previously we looked into the Ark of the Stricken Earth and how to extract its strand. Today we are looking at the Ark of the Living Flame. This Ark is a bit of a step up in Eternal Strands but is nothing we can’t handle with a few flame resistance potions!
Ark Of The Living Flame Locus Point
The Ark of the Living Flame is a great enemy that builds on the previous Ark of the Stricken Earth, except it adds fire into the mix and more of a process when it comes to breaking body parts.
The location of the strand or locus point is within the flames on the top of this ark’s head. However, we need to douse the flame first. This flame won’t go out with you throwing ice magic at it, so don’t bother trying like we first did.

In order to douse the flame, we need to locate red orbs on this ark’s body, and once all are broken, the flame will go out, allowing us to extract. These orbs are not obvious as they are protected with a wooden coating like the first ark and don’t stand out. However, on the Ark staff, you’ll see a red-like orb at the top that is not protected; these are the orbs that we are looking for.
There are 5 orbs in total: one on its staff, one on its left wrist, one on the back of each of its calves, and one in the center of its chest. All red orbs apart from on the staff are protected and have to have a protective casing removed first; this comes off in a few hits, so it does not take much time at all to break.
This ark is a lot trickier to climb, as you’ll need to climb on its staff and arm, which can be difficult to get to. As well as trying to shake you off and grab you like the previous ark, this ark will also engulf some of its body parts in fire if you are on there for too long. It’s best to take a fire resistance potion before or during the fight depending on how many you have.

This great ark also summons a fire servant that will attack you when on the ground, but you should barely run into this as we will always be on the ark.
Similar to the first ark, you can climb on the back of its neck and stop climbing to regain your stamina; make sure to start climbing before moving in case you run off.
Once these orbs are broken, you’ll see the flame go out and the symbol appear under its health bar, signaling the strand can now be extracted. Climb on the top of its head, and then you’ll be able to extract.
The Ark of the Living Flame has a Fire Servant strand, allowing you to level this up back at camp.
Compared to the first great Ark enemy, this flame Ark is quite a step up as it asks you to climb to more difficult areas while also dealing with fire damage. Overall, however, once you get used to the Ark’s behavior and stock up on fire resistance, you shouldn’t have too much of a problem.
