Look Outside Tips & Tricks + Beginner Guide

Look Outside - Tips And Tricks

Look Outside is the latest game from Devolver Digital and is quite left field for even this esteemed publisher. One part horror, one part turn-based RPG, a lot of things are not as they seem, and that’s why we’re running through the best tips to get you started in Look Outside. Got some tips of your own? Be sure to let us know in the comments! Of course, be aware of mild spoilers for Look Outside below!

Answer your door and try to help

More often than not, you are going to be better off interacting with and helping the people that come to your door. Don’t judge a book by its cover, as you may end up with a new party member, new items, or a chance to trade!

Save often

This applies to both difficulty modes. Look Outside has some harsh scenarios where you can be taken down quickly without warning. Save whenever you can, as there is no penalty for doing so, saving you from retreading your steps in the future.

Look Outside Tips & Tricks - Party Members

Visit the shop often on floor 2

Not long into your journey in Look Outside, you’ll run into a shop on floor 2. Be sure to visit this often to make sure you’re always stocked up and the stock does appear to replenish and sometimes contains new items for purchase.

Get duct tape for weapon repairs

Speaking of a shop. There is a weapon durability system in Look Outside, weapons may break if not repaired when they are damaged. Be sure to stock up on duct tape to repair weapons found throughout the world and in the shop that’s mentioned before.

Play video games in your apartment!

Look Outside has a number of video games that can be acquired and then played back at your apartment. Don’t ignore this mechanic, as playing video games will not only increase your stats and give XP, but also you’ll learn new moves that can dramatically help in combat, including one that basically acts as haste! On top of this, after each video game session, there always tends to be a visitor to your apartment, providing potentially even more rewards.

Use the optimize in your equip screen

You’ll be picking up a lot of stuff throughout Look Outside; be sure to use the optimise button when equipping, as this will always tend to equip the best items for you and your party.

Look Outside Tips & Tricks - Enemies

Remember you can run from fights!

When you come across a dangerous enemy in Look Outside that you’re probably not ready for, the game will try to warn you by saying, “You feel the urge to run away”. Don’t ignore this, as this may save you from having to reload. Running away is also more effective after your second turn.

Brush your teeth and shower

Yes, you’re still reading tips for Look Outside and not some life advice guide. Another mechanic you can interact with in your apartment is brushing your teeth and showering. As mundane as it sounds, this will improve your hygiene, which makes you less likely to be detected by enemies, but when showering, you may also reflect on what you’ve done so far and what your next step is.

Return to your apartment when your danger meter is high

The longer you are out of your apartment in Look Outside, the higher your danger meter will grow. Be sure to stop at your apartment to bank your XP and level up. While you’re back at the apartment banking XP, it’s a good reminder to check up on everything else while you’re there.

Don’t look outside

This is self explanatory. Or maybe you should? Who knows what you might see.

Pick up everything, there is no inventory limit

You’re going to run into a bunch of items and equipment throughout Look Outside; some stuff you feel you might not need. Honestly, just grab everything; you can sell what you don’t need and put this money towards more important gear.

Look Outside Tips & Tricks - Items

Remember you can talk to things and interact instead of fighting

You are going to run into a bunch of odd and grotesque beings. You may be tempted to just attack straight away based off their menacing appearance. Remember, you can interact with some of these beings, and they may not even attack you at all. There may be other ways to deal with the many things you find in Look Outside.

Sell Loot that has the same item icon.

Carrying on from picking up everything in Look Outside, you are going to have a bunch of items. You will pick up a lot of valuable-sounding stuff that all appears to have the same item icon. This stuff can be sold for a large amount of money when at vendors. It’s best to just sell whenever possible in order to have cash for more valuable things such as healing items and equipment.

Having extra members in the party helps with combat immensely.

You will run into a number of strange individuals in Look Outside, if you follow our previous tips and don’t judge a book by its cover. Then you may end up having additional party members join your group. This greatly helps with combat in Look Outside, and you will need all the help you can get in this dangerous place.

Look Outside is full of strange beings and areas, and it can be a bit difficult trying to figure out what to do. Following these tips will get you started in Look Outside and ensure you are off to a good start in this world!
