Wreckfest 2, the next title in the demolition derby-style racing series, is smashing into Early Access on PC on March 20th, 2025. Developed by Bugbear Entertainment and published by THQ Nordic, Wreckfest 2 is overhauling the physics engine to “deliver the most intense crashes, deeper component damage, and absolute vehicular mayhem.”
Wreckfest 2 is a welcome addition to the racing genre with its focus on vehicle damage as much as winning the race. Wreckfest 2 will feature derby mode on top of chaotic races, with some even taking place in oncoming traffic. Races can also support up to 23 other players or AI drivers in multiplayer modes.
Other features we can expect to see in Wreckfest 2 include
- Full-contact racing with no rules, powered by the overhauled physics engine. Head-to-head races on dangerous courses and circuits with a number of obstacles and jumps.
- Car customisation that focuses on cars that have been through it all, dented, banged up, and stitched together, with each car telling its story. More customisation options will come over early access, allowing for new armour and components.
- Improved game modes: Racing, Derby, and multiplayer will be available on early access launch with a revamped career mode coming later. This career mode will adapt to your playstyle and guide you on your ride to success. Online will also include skill-based matchmaking and server queues.
- Challenges will put a seasoned racer to the test, placing them in unconventional vehicles in small scenarios as they battle for the highest score.
- Tournaments will be added during early access that allow for special events and unique rewards.
- Mod support will be added over early access, allowing for further customisation from the Steam Workshop.
Wreckfest 2 will be beginning in Early Access, shaping the game over time with player feedback, with new cars and other vehicles joining the game. Interested racers can wishlist Wreckfest 2 now and visit their site for more information.
